The Key - Merlot

The key to winemaking, as in every aspect of life, is balance. Exemplifying the Walla Walla region’s ability to produce bold, yet refined Merlot, The Key, ruby red in hue, dazzles with rich fruit forward aromas and flavors of raspberry and black cherry. A subtle spice and well integrated tannins add depth and structure to a merlot that can be enjoyed now with the promise of aging beautifully.

This wine is named after a poem that I wrote while working in the vineyards of Walla Walla, including this block of Merlot from Seven Hills Vineyard. "The Key" is about self-discovery, finding who you truly are in this moment regardless of external expectations and patterns.

The Key

Feel from your heart,

with no outside influence.

See through the universal art,

Our collective consciousness.

Understand your purpose,

and everything will fall in it's place.

Elevate your Being,

and your thoughts no longer race.

Continue to use your mind,

to acheive outside world things. 

But understand that fullness within,

outside stuff cannot bring.

Contentment, joy, love...

you need not search externally.

For these live within you always,

you already possess the key.

Your inner truth is the key 

that you endlessly search for.

It's right there, staring you down,

waiting...for your own acceptance.

Be who you love, now.

Embody that which makes you smile.

Reside right here, in this present moment.

The past and the future gone away for a while.

Pull away from your mind, 

dive deeply within yourself.

Stop running and face your true nature,

consciously know thyself.

For your inner truth is the key,

that unlocks what you seek.

This truth reveals contenment, joy and love.

It makes you full, not weak.
